The core of ECMG’s Content Transformation Services (CTS) is our patent-pending, XML-based Content Definition File (CDF). This file abstracts all the properties for each version of a document or piece of content, and is presented in an easy-to-read format through ECMG Reader.
The actions that take place within CTS are metadata transformations. These are created in ECMG Explorer, or in the XML editor of your choice. The resulting Content Transformation Files (CTFs) are applied to a document’s CDF to produce the transformed metadata, ready for migration or bulk loading. All the transformation actions take place in our abstracted CDF space – nothing is modified in either the source or destination repository until the actual load is executed.
Knowing what data elements exist in a repository is extremely important in preparing to migrate or load content. ECMG’s Repository Information File (RIF) provides all of this information in one file. Collating this same information using out-of-the-box administration tools would take hours of labor. ECMG Explorer creates RIFs with a simple “Right-click, Properties”.
